How to Remove Bamboo Permanently, Kill Bamboo No Spray or Roundup #removebamboo

Welcome to greenyarden in our budget eco garden, this is how to remove bamboo. This is a very tall bamboo in the backyard of the property that we bought, it's known as giant cane, the Latin name is arundinaria gigantea and it's one of three native u.s. bamboos. We'll be working in the section next to the sweetgum tree and a fence. The southwest corner by the back street is quite overgrown with bamboo but first we'll be working in this section.

We're using a six amp reciprocating saw and a 50 foot, 12 gauge cable so if we look at the chart the gauge is 12 and 50 feet so that provides up to 15 amps so we're covered for the 6 amps. We have an all purpose wood blade, also some special pruning blades to get down deep in the roots and rhizomes of the bamboo, safety gloves, hearing protection, and eye protection.

I cut above or below the node on this bamboo because the node is solid so it's easier to cut it in the hollow section. It's important to have a process so while I'm down here I want to cut the bottom sections of as many pieces of bamboo as possible. We noticed red ants formed a colony inside one of the split sections of bamboo. Here's the last section of cuts, the roots and rhizomes are very deep and solidly embedded in this sandy soil, about nine to twelve inches deep. Know the locations of buried lines, power, cables, sprinklers etc or call the utility company, maybe ask a neighbor if they know anything.

We're using a special pruning blade because it's extra long and really sharp and you can either go around the sections of the bamboo roots and rhizomes and cut them out piece by piece. We found that a little bit at a time works best. But of course it's not as easy as it looks and I just had to stay persistent. I am screeding the soil with a two-by-four in our very sandy soil so it's fairly easy to screed and level. I hope you enjoyed our video of how to remove bamboo with no spray or Roundup and please like comment and subscribe if you dig this, and as always keep it green!
